Description

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

My thoughts

This book picks up right where Cinder left off and. I read Scarlet immediately after finishing Cinder because I needed to know what was going to happen next.

I did have a problem with getting into Scarlet’s story-line in the beginning because I was so curious what was going to happen with Cinder. Cinder story-line picks up slowly and in the beginning you get more chapters with Scarlet than with Cinder. This frustrated me a bit because I wanted to know what happened with Cinder and not with this Scarlet character were I didn’t know anything about. After a few chapters I got more into the story-line from Scarlet, but I think Cinder is still my favorite character. I didn’t like Captain Torn that much in the beginning, He was kind of weird. But you slowly get to know him better and you figure out that he is actually a kind guy, even do he isn’t the brightest. He just doesn’t get it when you give him a hint he needs you to spell it out from him.

That sounded a bit negative when I actually really like this series. The characters are great, the plot is great and the world is interesting. What more can you ask for!
The plot keeps you on your toes and I’m curious what is going to happen next. I definitely recommend this series if you haven’t already
