Royally Lost by Angie Stanton

It’s about a teenager forced to go on a trip to Europe’s ancient cities with their parents during the summer. She meets a guy and they go on a whirlwind of adventurers in these cities. It’s a fun read, great for summer.

I’m not much of a gamer myself because I’m pretty bad at it, but I always love watching someone (whom is much better than me) play the games. I will watch it for the story. I just love stories no matter what kind of medium is used.     

This list is in no particular orderI really like this topic. 

Divergent
I think that the initiation could be a good Idea for a game, and then a part in survival in a faction. Or you could make a game like SimCity out of this and make the city grow and become bigger and discover the outside land slowly. That sounds like fun to me.

This is the first book in the Ascendance trilogy. This series is an amazing fantasy series that I’ve been raving about for a year so you need to pick it up! Really you won’t be sorry. You can find my review here.

Polarizing books means books that people either love of hat, with no in between.

I wasn’t able to come up with 5 polarizing books that I loved so I also have a few books that I hatted. Some on both sides of this spectrum.

1. Defiance by C.J. Redwine

I don’t hear people talk about this book much only when they decide to get rid of it or didn’t like it. But I loved it. In my opinion it’s better than the divergent trilogy, but it is a lot more underrated.

When I saw this topic I thought that it would be difficult to find debuts that I look forward to, but I was wrong. I didn’t know that a lot of books that I was anticipating were debuts. So here is my top 5 (with some honorable mentions)

The Love Interest by Cale Dietrich

Publication date: May 16^th 2017

This is about an organization that cultivates teenage spies. These spies get close to people that are destined for great power.

Caden is the nice one. Dylan is the bad and brooding one. Both Caden and Dylan are living for the first time in the outside world. They are well trained and they need to be. Because whoever the girl doesn’t choose will die.

What the boys don’t expect are feelings that are outside of their training. Feelings that could kill them.

These guys are supposed to make this girl fall in love with them; instead they fall in love with one another. Or at least that’s what it sounds like. If that doesn’t intrigue you, I don’t know what will.

The Hate U Give Angie Thomas

Publication date: Febuary 28^th 2017

I’ve been seeing this book everywhere. So, most of you will already know what it’s about. But for those who don’t. It’s about a girl from a poor neighborhood, who witnessed a fatal police shooting of her unarmed best friend. It is inspired by the Black Lives Matters movement. I heard great things so far and I’m curious.

Royal Bastards by Andrew Shvarts

Publication date: June 6^th 2017

It’s a fantasy about a bastard, Tilla. She want’s noting more than the love and acceptance of her father. During a feast honoring the visiting princess Lyrianna, the royal shocks everyone by choosing to sit at the Bastards’ Table. Wait for Me by Caroline Leech

Publication date: January 31^th 2017

I’m trying to get more into historical fiction this year. So, when I read the synopsis of this book, I was hooked.

This is a love story between a girl from Scotland and a German prisoner of war. He is assigned as the new farmhand at her father’s farm.

The more she learns about him the more she sees the boy behind the soldier. With tensions rising all around them, they must decide how much they’re willing to sacrifice before the end of the war determines their fate.

Hold Back The Stars Katie Khan

Publication date: January 26^th 2017

Hold Back The Stars is a science fiction that takes place in space. Carys and Max have ninety minutes of air left and noting to hold on to but each other. They can’t help but look back at the well-ordered world they have left behind, a life to which they might never return now.

This sounds interesting, don’t you think? I can’t wait.

1. Reading goal: Read at least 5 Tomes (books with more than 500 pages)
Last year I set a goal on pages read instead of an amount of books, because I noticed that I was only picking up small books and the big once remained on my shelves unread. I don't have a goal to read a certain amount of books or pages this year at all, but I still want to push myself to read those bigger books. I though 5 was an amount that wouldn’t put me under too much pressure.

I've expressed my opinion of this series multiple times on my blog. I think you should stop after book 6 because it goes downhill from there. But the first few books are in my opinion definitely worth your time, just don't continue after that.

Levana from The Lunar Chronicles
On the moment I’m obsessed with this series. I started Cinder this month and now I’m already reading Winter. In this series she seems like a villain who does evil things just because she is evil, but after reading Fairest I see it is not exactly like that. She grew up in an environment that made her like she is now, but she always did everything for her people. She might not realize she is making is worse for her people, but she had good intentions to start with. She had a messed up family and childhood that made her what she is today.

I was a fan of these books. I don’t know how many times I reread them. But now that I’m more of an adult I think he is kind of creepy and weird. If I would read them now again I wouldn’t have liked him at all.

1. The Wasteland from Defiance by C.J. Redwine
But I think this whole world is kind of spooky and dark. This is a place where a monster that breathes fire lives. Well the monster lives somewhere under the ground but it comes out from under the ground in the Wastelands. If you are in the mood for a good dystopian, this would be a great pick. I read it 2 years ago when I was really in to dystopians and it didn´t disappoint me.

2. Abandoned mines in Bitterkingdom from A Girl of Fire and Thorn series by Rae Carson
This series is one of my favorites. In this last installment they travel through a dark abandoned mine that is in some parts full of water. There are more spooky places in this book, but this would be my nightmare, to travel through these mines.

3. Westoros from Geoge R.R. Martin

Westoros would be a spooky place but more because of the gruesome dead’s. Any place beyond the wall would probably be spooky but also Harrenhal and the Dreadford. A lot of the places are scary in this world. But none would be so scary as the people in it. :P
I think I use A Song of Ice and Fire series in almost every T5W post from the last few weeks. I should get more original en use different books, but this series is just so good!

4. The Boundary in the Wizard's First Rule from Terry Goodkind
The Boundary is a place where the death tries to lure you in this wall of green light, and when you go through this light you enter the underworld. It is the boundary between Westland and The Midlands and it keeps magic away from Westland. This is an epic fantasy with dark places. This is the book series that got me into reading. And I recommend this first book for every high fantasy fan!

5. The Belgrave in Avalon by Mindee Arnett
The Belgrave is a place in space like the Bermuda triangle. People that go in don’t come back out again, or come out with weird stories of what happened there. I’m not a big fan of space because it goes against nature for people to go there. We won’t survive there without technology that keeps us alive there, and that stuff can break. So don’t sign me up for any space travel. :P

So this means ships (romantic relationships) that don't happen in the book. This could also be in series that aren't finished yet. So you don't know if they end up together, but you really want them to.

1. Bran Stark and Meera Reed in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin

I’m aware of the age differences, but in this series everything is possible. It is not weirder than most marriages in this world. I think they fit well together, and been through a lot together. The series isn’t finished yet, so who knows, maybe they end up together?

2. Arya Stark and Gendry Waters in A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin

We’re staying in Westeros with this one. My answer why, would be the seem as with Bran and Meera. I think they fit together well, and I can’t wait were this story will end!!

3. Eragon and Arya in The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini

I haven’t finished this series so it might be something that will happen in the end, or not. I only read the first 2 books. The second one left me disappointed so I haven’t continued yet. Tell me what you thought, is this series worth it or not?

I didn’t post a top 5 Wednesday last week because I got so busy with school. But I am back this week so I hope you enjoy this post.

1. The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan

I started this book back in March and I finished it last month. So, it took me about a half year to finish this book. I put this book down a lot because this book contains short-stories and essays. So it is perfect for reading here and there a short story.

2. The Martian by Andy Weir

I started this in January and finished it in the end of March. I read this book because of the hype, but I didn’t enjoy this book. So it took me a long time to finish it.

 

3. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

This book is a big book, that is the main reason why it took me so long to read it. I read the prologue in February 2014, after that I kind of put it down and picked it up again this summer. So on Goodreads it looks like it took me more than 2 years to read it, but in reality I read it in 1 month.

4. The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

This book took me a month to read. That is long especially when you know that this book is just 125 pages. The writing isn’t difficult like most classics. But it was the subject and how the story got told that made it slow. This book made me realize that book about time travel are just not my thing.

5. My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories

I started it around Christmas time in 2014 but I didn’t finish it in January, and I didn’t like to read this after the holiday season. So I saved the last 3 stories for Christmas in 2015 and finished it. So, technically this took me a year to read.

1. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzan Collins
I don’t think I need to explain this one. Everyone knows what a difficult life she has. I wouldn’t survive one day in the arena. I would run before I get to the arena and get probably killed for running away :P

2. Anyone from The A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin

This is a fantastic series but also a gruesome one. I wouldn’t want to trade places with any one of them. This series got murder, rape, torture and a lot of back-stabbing. I’m sure I won’t survive long in this world and if I did it would be a terrible life. So, no thank you.

3. Hazel Grace Lancaster from The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
I think it is obvious that I don’t want to have cancer at sixteen, but how does.  You don’t get a chose in this life and Hazel certainly didn’t get to choose her life. Her story is very sad and you know, no matter what happens she will die before her time. I wouldn’t want her story to be mine.

4. Beatrice Prior from Divergent by Veronica Roth
Again with the easy answer, a dystopian. I don’t want to live in a world like that. She doesn’t have it easy and is in constant danger. Also because of the ending of this series!!

5. Jeth Seagrave from Avalon by Mindee Arnett
Jeth gets beaten a lot in this book. He also doesn’t have a great past. Last his parents at a young age, had to take care of himself and his sister from a young age because his uncle was drunk most of the time, ect. He doesn’t have it easy and I wouldn’t want to take his place.

The first thought on my mind were big fantasy books. Those will be great for TV shows but most of the big fantasy books series that I read are already made in TV series. Like A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin and the Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind (TV show is called Legend of the Seeker). So I had to think for a while to come up with these.

1 The Ascendants Trilogy by Jennifer A. Nielsen

I would like to see the Ascendants trilogy as a TV Show. But on no circumstances may they vary from the book. Book 1 season 1, book 2 season 2 etc. I love this story so I am also a bit afraid that they won’t do it justice. I think a TV show would be better than a movie because than they don’t have to take parts out of the story and have the time to do this right.

2. The Defiance series­ or The Courier’s Daughter series by C.J. Redwine

I think that this could be a great adventure series. I loved this book so much. This was my favorite dystopian after getting into the hunger games. Don’t get me wrong it is nothing like the hunger games it is more a post-apocalyptic dystopian world. But you only find that out in the second book were they find stuff from our world so the first book feels more like a normal dystopian. This world is interesting and dangerous. Perfect setting for a TV show. On the other hand this book got a kick ass female lead like the Hunger Games. She changes a lot during the books, because like katniss, she is effected by al the traumatic events that happened to her. This all would be cool to see in a TV show.

3. Legend series by Marie Lu

I wasn’t the biggest fan of these books but I think this could be a great TV show or movie. I think that this is defiantly possible in the future because I know the rights are sold and IMDB’s says this movie is in development. I still think this might be a better TV series than movie but I am interested in both.

4. The Cocktail series by Alice Clayton

This would have to be an adult TV show at night because of all the sexy time scenes in it. But it would be incredibly funny. Maybe even the best comedy TV show ever seen.

5. Avalon by Mindee Arnett

I just finished this book 2 days ago but I think this can be made in a great TV show. It is doable with a good special effects team I think. This takes place in space so that is an environment you can´t film in so a good special effects team is definitely necessary.

It was difficult to make this list. I don’t know but I sometimes find it hard to imagine the characters outside of their worlds so it was difficult to figure out who I would want as Family. I couldn’t come up with more than 3 characters so I made a top 3.

Disclaimer, I wouldn’t trade my family for the world, even do we fight sometimes (which family doesn’t :P). But if I had to I would choose these characters. 

1 first I want Katniss from the hunger games as older sister. She is a great sister to prim and who doesn’t want a sister like that.

2. I think Ned Stark from A Game of Thrones is a great father so give me him as a father. He is a good and kind father sadly the world where he is in is not so kind.

3. I want Hayden’s mom, from The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West, to be my mom. She is cool, kind and I feel like she understands teenagers and that is a treat that is great for a mom with a teenage kid. Even though she was a very small character I still like her a lot.

I’m a person who says: “never say never because you don’t know what the future may bring.”

So there is a chance that I pick some of these up if someone convinces me or if I change my mind about these books.

This list is in no particular order.

1. The Selection Series

This book doesn’t sound like something that I would enjoy. I hate the bachelor, and I don’t particularly like love triangles (especially if it is badly done, which is in most cases).  Also, there are so many more books that sound more interesting to me. So many books so little time.

2. The Mortal instruments series

I know I will get hate for this but I don’t want to read these books. I read the first book and didn’t really like it. A friend of mine is a big fan of this series so I thought I could give it a try. She told me that the series get better but I don’t care anymore. I don’t want to go through 3 books to get to a better point. There are so many other books I would like to read more.  So I won’t be finishing this series. Sorry if you were a big fan. I just wasn’t for me. Lucky everyone has a right to their own opinion. If everyone liked the same books what would there be to discuss, why would we even write blogs. The different opinions make the book blog community an interesting plays to be a part of.

3. The Half Wild Trilogy

I didn’t like the first book that much so I think I will skip this series. I heard a lot of mixed things about this series, so at the moment I’m not planning to read the last 2 books in this trilogy.

4. Hidden Sea Tales trilogy

I was mostly confused while reading the first books Child of Hidden Sea, and the moments that weren’t confusing were kind of boring. This book was not something for me. So the second and third book I will skip.  

5. The Sword of Truth series (Richard and Kahlan series)

I have loved the Sword of Truth series because this series got me into reading. I loved these characters so much. I have laughed with them, cried with them and I was scared for them, but now the series is not the same anymore. After the 6^th book things were dragged out. There we multiple chapters were they would be discussing things that they could do. I like a more action pact story. I felt like the writer thought this story sells so let’s try to get as many books out of it. After 10 books I just wanted a satisfying ending and I didn’t get it. And the series kept going and going. Now I am done with this series. But I still love the first 6 books in this series, after that I just advise you to stop because it goes downhill after that.
